Young God Records is an American independent label founded in 1990 by Michael Gira , the front man of the influential no-wave band Swans . He also produces most of the label's releases.

Young God specializes in experimental popular music. Many numbers in the label catalog defy precise categorization and oscillate between folk and noise music .

The name of the label comes from an EP by the Swans called Young God from 1984. Actually, the label was only launched to better sell the increasingly popular music of the Swans.

In the fall of 2010 there was a bottleneck in the label's deliveries because the small DIY company received too many orders due to the release of the long-awaited Swans album My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky . That's why you couldn't order anything from the label for a long time.
