Lisa Germano (born June 27, 1958 in Mishawaka , Indiana ) is an American singer , songwriter and musician .

life and work

As the daughter of Italian-American musicians and teachers, Lisa Germano played the piano at a young age . In 1985 she met John Mellencamp , with whom she went on tour as a violinist . In 1991 she released her first solo album. Her second album Happiness (1993) was released in two versions, on Capitol Records and on the British label 4AD . 4AD released their subsequent albums up to and including Slide (1998). In the Maybe World (2006), Magic Neighbor (2009) and the new edition of Lullaby for Liquid Pig , expanded to include live recordings, were released on Michael Gira's label Young God Records .

Between her solo work, Germano also regularly performed on the albums and tours of other artists as an accompanying musician, such as David Bowie , Iggy Pop , U2 , Simple Minds , Eels and many others. Together with Howe Gelb ( Giant Sand ) and Joey Burns and John Convertino ( Calexico , Giant Sand) she founded the band project OP8, which released an album in 1997, Slush . Lisa Germano was most recently on a solo tour in Europe in 2011, including Bremen, Berlin, Vienna and Dublin.
