The Yui no Tō ( Japanese 結 い の 党 ; own transcription Yuinotoh ) was a political party in Japan . It emerged in December 2013 as a split from Minna no Tō around the House of Commons Kenji Eda and existed until September 2014, when it merged with the previously split Nippon Ishin no Kai from Tōru Hashimoto to form Ishin no Tō .

With initially 15 members in both chambers of the national parliament - nine in the lower house, of which only two were personally elected, and six in the upper house, all via proportional representation - the Yui no Tō initially fulfilled the requirements for legal recognition as a political party and state party funding, which is measured according to the number of representatives at the end of the year. In the two chambers of the national parliament, the Yui no Tō formed its own parliamentary groups after an agreement with the Minna no Tō in early 2014: in the lower house in January, in the upper house in February.

Eda, who with Yoshimi Watanabe was one of the founders of Minna no Tō, was deposed as General Secretary in August 2013. There were increasing political differences between the two about the direction of the party. B. through support for the state secret law of the Abe government or cooperation with the two largest opposition parties. In December 2013, Eda and 13 other MPs left the Minna no Tō to found a new party; Mito Kakizawa , who resigned in August , joined them. The party name came from a suggestion by Eda. Yui ( 結 い / ) literally means “to bind together” and denotes mutual help, e.g. B. among farmers planting rice. The party name was translated into English as “Unity Party”.

Party chairman was Kenji Eda (lower house, Kanagawa 8, 4th term), vice-chairman Sukeshiro Terata (upper house, proportional representation, 1st term of office), general secretary Jirō Ono (upper house, proportional representation, 1st term of office (before one in the lower house)), chairman of the political Mito Kakizawa Committee (House of Commons, Tokyo 15, 2nd term). The upper house member Yukio Fujimaki died in March 2014, which caused the party to lose a seat because vacancies in the proportional representation segment were filled by the party list for which the resigned MP was elected, in this case the list of Minna no Tō .

The upper house faction of the Yui no Tō formed a joint faction with the Nippon Ishin no Kai in April 2014 - through the merger the second largest opposition faction in the upper house. A joint lower house faction was formed in the summer of 2014 when the Ishin no Kai split and opponents of a planned party merger with the Yui no Tō around Shintarō Ishihara formed the Jisedai no Tō . Joint Ishin-Yui factions had also formed in some prefecture and local parliaments. In September 2014, after reaching an agreement on key issues, the two parties finally united to form Ishin no Tō.
