Yuki Sima (from Japanese 雪 島 ' snow island ' ) is a completely snowed-in island off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located 3 km north of the Botnneset in the Lützow-Holm Bay .
Norwegian cartographers mapped it in 1946 based on aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen Expedition 1936/37 in the mistaken belief that it was a northern branch of the Botnneset. After evaluating Landsat recordings in 1974, they were also mistakenly believed to be part of a group of islands. Only Japanese aerial photographs from 1983 cleared up their true nature. Japanese scholars named them descriptively in 1996.
