Yukihiro Matsumoto

Yukihiro Matsumoto ( Japanese 松本 行 弘 Matsumoto Yukihiro ; born April 14, 1965 in Tottori Prefecture ) developed the Ruby programming language and is still responsible for it today. He also worked as a programmer in Japan for the open source company netlab.jp .

Matsumoto studied computer science at Tsukuba University , where he was part of research groups for programming languages ​​and compilers .

He is Head of the Network Applied Communications Laboratory (NaCl), Fellow at the Rakuten Institute of Technology and, since 2011, Chief Architect of Ruby at the PaaS provider Heroku .

Matsumoto was honored with the FSF Award 2011 for developing Ruby and for many years working on GNU and other free software projects .
