Yuty is an impact crater on the Chryse Planitia Plain on Mars .
The crater measures around 20 kilometers and is surrounded by overlapping ejection flaps. One of them partially covers an older crater on its rim. According to current theory, these surface structures, which can often be observed in Martian craters in the area of equatorial and mean longitudes, are based on accumulations of ice in the subsoil. The melt water produced by the impact liquefies the ejecta and thus promotes the formation of the flap structures.
