Yves Daccord
Yves Daccord (* 1964 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss journalist and television producer. He has been Director General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) since 2010 .
Life
Yves Daccord graduated from the University of Geneva with a bachelor's degree in political science in 1986 . From 1987 to 1992 he worked as a journalist and producer for the Swiss television broadcaster Télévision Suisse Romande .
He has been with the International Committee of the Red Cross since 1992 and has held senior positions in Israel, Yemen, Kenya, Sudan, Georgia and Chechnya. In 1997 he returned to Geneva and became head of the Department of Humanitarian Law . In 1998 he became head of the communications department, which he took over as director in 2002. On July 1, 2010 he was appointed General Manager.
He is also on the board of directors of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum .
Daccord is married and has three children.
