Zacharias Sautner

Zacharias Sautner (born January 17, 1979 in Calw ) is a German economist and has been Professor of Finance at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management since 2014 , where he also heads the Finance Department.

Life

Zacharias Sautner graduated from the Hermann Hesse Gymnasium in Calw in June 1998. After graduating from high school, from September 1998 to October 2001 he studied business administration at the University of Cooperative Education in Stuttgart. He then studied economics and finance at the University of York from October 2001 to September 2002 . He then switched to the doctoral program at the University of Mannheim , where he received his doctorate in 2005 under the supervision of Martin Weber . After completing his doctorate, Sautner initially taught as a Research Fellow in Finance at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford , before moving to the Universiteit van Amsterdam . There he was Associate Professor of Finance (with tenure) and Director of the Corporate Finance and Banking Program at the Duisenberg School of Finance until 2014, before moving to the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management as Professor of Finance . He has headed the Finance Department there since 2015.

Research and Teaching

Zacharias Sautner's research is in the area of ​​corporate finance, in particular corporate governance, management compensation, M&A, internal capital markets, and corporate insolvencies. His research has been published in leading international journals such as the Journal of Finance , the Review of Financial Studies or the Review of Finance and presented at conferences such as the AFA , WFA, and EFA. He teaches in the fields of corporate finance, company valuation, and corporate governance, has won various teaching awards and is widely quoted in the media.
