Zaheerul Islam

Zaheerul Islam (* 1956 in Rawalpindi ) is a Pakistani lieutenant general and acting director of the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Military career

Zaheerul Islam is a member of the Punjab Regiment and became an officer on April 16, 1977. He served as the commanding general of V Corps in Karachi prior to his appointment as director of the ISI. He also served as Chief of Staff in the Army Strategic Force Command for 2004-2006. He took over the post of ISI Director on March 9, 2012 from his predecessor, Ahmed Shuja Pasha .
