from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Conservative Dentistry (also: conservative dentistry , conservative dentistry ) is a field name in the art dentistry and thus the generic term for all measures that the prevention , diagnosis and treatment of plaque-related diseases and caries-related include and not caries-related damage of the teeth as well as research in this area . Exceptions are surgical measures that are subsumed under the term oral surgery , such as root tip resection .

Sub-areas

The following sub-areas fall under tooth preservation:

Prevention

Dental prophylaxis (synonym: dental prevention) deals with preventive measures that are intended to prevent the development or exacerbation of diseases of the teeth and the tooth supporting apparatus. First and foremost, there is the preventive medical check-up for the early detection of pathological conditions.

Caries therapy

The aim of filling therapy is to repair carious lesions or other types of defects on individual teeth. It is also called conservative or restorative therapy.

Periodontics

Periodontitis is an inflammation caused by bacteria, which manifests itself in a largely irreversible destruction of the tooth holding apparatus (periodontium).

Endodontics

Endodontics focuses on diseases of the pulp-dentin complex and the periapical tissue. Pulpitids are acute or chronic inflammations of the pulp (tooth pulp : blood and lymph vessels, nerves and connective tissue) or of the periodontium (tooth support apparatus). The most common treatment in endodontics is root canal treatment.

Dental crowns

Individual crowns , including partial crowns , are also tooth-preserving measures and not a denture , because they do not replace teeth, but only defective tooth substance if it can no longer be reconstructed with fillings . In Germany, however, they are treated like dentures in terms of fees.
