from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zakia Zaki (* 1962 in Gabulu Saraj , Parwan ; † June 5, 2007 ) was an Afghan radio reporter.

Zaki ran the radio station sadaye solh (dt. The voice of peace ). She was one of the few women who worked as a journalist during the Taliban regime. This is noteworthy because the regime tried to ban women from the public as much as possible. In her radio show, she criticized the restriction of freedom of expression and the position of women in society.

After numerous anonymous threats that were not taken seriously, Zaki was shot dead in his sleep on June 5, 2007.

Zaki was married with six children.
