from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zdeňka Vávrová (* 1945 ) is a Czech astronomer .

Vávrová was involved in the observation of minor planets in the solar system . Her observations at the Kleť Observatory included the periodic comet named 134P / Kowal-Vávrová . The object with the provisional designation 1983 JG presented itself to her without a coma and was therefore initially regarded by her as an asteroid . However, later images by Charles T. Kowal showed a coma and identified the object as a comet.

Between 1978 and 1991 it discovered 115 asteroids. The asteroid (3364) Zdenka is named after her and the asteroid of the inner main belt (2821) Slávka is named after her mother .
