Zebra Technologies is a US provider of devices and software for data acquisition and processing. Zebra develops and sells barcode scanners , RFID readers, mobile computers and printers for printing coupons, tickets and receipts. The company's devices are used in various industries. Among other things, they are used for goods registration in retail, the labeling of samples and the creation of patient wristbands in the healthcare sector and order picking in the logistics sector .

The company was founded in 1969 by Ed Kaplan and Gary Cless under the name Data Specialties and initially manufactured electromechanical components. The company's first barcode printers were manufactured from 1982. With the focus on devices for on-demand barcode labeling, the company was changed to Zebra Technologies in 1986. It has been listed on the stock exchange since 1991. Since 2008, large parts of the production have been carried out by Jabil Circuit in China.
