Luke Mudgway (born June 12, 1996 in Palmerston North ) is a New Zealand cyclist who competes on track and road .

Athletic career

Luke Mudgway attended Boys' High School (PNBHS) in his birthplace, which has produced several successful cyclists such as Simon van Velthooven and Campbell Stewart .

In 2014, Mudgway became Junior World Champion in two-man team driving with Regan Gough , and he won the bronze medal in the team pursuit with Gough, Nick Kergozou and Jack Ford. The following year, the New Zealand track four ( Aaron Gate , Hayden Roulston and Nick Kergozou) won the Oceania title in the team pursuit, and he was Oceania champion in scratch .

In 2016, Mudgway won a stage of the Tour of China II and finished third overall, and in 2018 he finished tenth overall. In the same year he was ninth in the Joe Martin Stage Race . In 2019 he won the Gravel and Tar Classic race .

Awards

2014 was Luke Mudgway Junior Athlete of the Year by Manawatu .
