Gravel and Tar Classic

The Gravel and Tar Classic (dt. Gravel and tar classic ) is a New Zealand one-day races in road cycling for men and women, which has been held since 2016 and since 2018 in the UCI category is classified 1.2.

The race will be held in the Manawatu region on New Zealand's North Island . The men's race is 130 kilometers, 40 kilometers of which are gravel. In 2019 the first race was held as Gravel and Tar La Femme for women over around 110 kilometers, which is also classified in category 1.2.

According to the organizer, the competition is considered the "toughest bike race in the Oceania region". It is held annually in January and is in second place on the Oceania calendar behind the Australian Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race .
