The Coal Mine was a coal mine in what is now the Essen district of Überruhr .

Mining history

The excavation of a tunnel began in 1834 . During the excavation, dismantling also took place in the same year . In 1836 the mine was closed in time limits . The mine was back in operation the following year. From 1840 the mine was on time for several years and was then back in operation from 1848. In 1915 the mine was leased to the Charlotte Mining Company for several years. In 1920, the Charlotte Mining Company closed the mine. In the following year, the mine agreement became independent again. The mine was put back into operation in the same year. It was mined in the tunnel . In addition, there was a barrel-length shaft with a shallow depth of 85 meters. On October 1, 1923, the coal mine was closed for good. In 1925 the mine was consolidated with the Prinz Wilhelm-Steingatt colliery .

Promotion and workforce

The first workforce dates from 1834 and recorded nine miners employed at the mine. The first production figures of the mine come from the year 1837 and attest a production of 402 ½ tons of hard coal. In 1921, four miners extracted 146 tons of hard coal. A year later the production rose to 3,102 tons of hard coal with 37 employees. These are also the last known figures for the mine.
