A total of four small mines are known in North Rhine-Westphalia under the name Zeche Allgäu . These four mines were operated, partly at the same time, in the Vormholz district of Witten . These were the small mines Allgäu, Allgäu II, Allgäu III and Allgäu IV. The highest funding was provided in 1955 by the Allgäu II colliery. Rudolf Damm owned all four small mines.

Mining

Allgäu

This small mine was put into operation in 1950. It had two tonnage shafts with a depth of 60 meters. The shafts were in the upper Ruhr valley on Rauendahlstrasse. In the first year of operation, a total of 2,833 tons of hard coal were mined with 36 miners . The start of the miners' insurance is dated October 1, 1951.

In 1954 the highest production of the mine was produced with 106 miners, it amounted to 22,503 tons of hard coal. In the same year this small mine was closed.

Allgäu II

The Kleinzeche Allgäu II was put into operation in 1955 and closed again a year later. In the first year of operation, 81 miners produced a total of 25,128 tonnes of hard coal. This was the highest known funding of all small mines in Witten with the name Allgäu. In the year of decommissioning in 1956, 91 miners produced a total of 19,639 tonnes of hard coal.

Allgäu III

The Allgäu III colliery went into operation in 1957. In the first year of operation, the highest production was achieved with 117 miners, it amounted to 17,711 tons of hard coal. In the following year, the workforce fell to 43 men, and production dropped to 9,339 tons. On July 30, 1959, the mine was suspended by the mining authorities . In the following year, on October 18, 1960, the Allgäu III small mine was shut down. The year 1960 was the end date of all small mines with the name Allgäu.

Allgäu IV

The Kleinzeche Allgäu IV was only operated in 1955. With twelve miners, 1,152 tons of hard coal were extracted.
