history
Kronprinz colliery
The pit fields were muted by Franz Haniel in 1835 . The sinking of the Kronprinz shaft in Schönebeck began in 1837 and reached the coal mountains in 1838. A few years earlier (1834) succeeded Franz Haniel with the southern Lockstraße the bay Franz for the first time, the layer of marl to Intersects . The “Kronprinz” colliery was equipped with a steam engine built by the steelworks union Jacobi, Haniel & Huyssen (JHH) for dewatering .
The technical devices were not sufficient for a meaningful expansion of the shaft system. This led to the shaft being closed in 1845.
Crown Prince shaft
In 1899/1900 the Mülheimer Bergwerks-Verein bought the mine field and had a new shaft sunk in the Kronprinz mine field on upper Aktienstraße from 1901 to 1903 . This was designed as shaft 3 of the outer shaft system of the Rosenblumendelle colliery . It was never used to mine coal because it was used to transport people and materials. In 1902 it reached a depth of 105 meters, which later reached to 543 meters. It included daytime facilities with a boiler house, forge, carpenter's shop, laundry, warehouse and office. The Kronprinz shaft was shut down in 1961 before “Rosenblumendelle” was shut down in 1966, and in 1991 the remaining daytime facilities were dismantled.
Current condition
Today a plaque commemorates the colliery at the location of the Kronprinz shaft. In addition, some street names in today's Schönebeck district , such as Schacht-Franz- and Schacht-Kronprinz-Straße, remind of the history of the mine.
