The Mühlenbank colliery is a former hard coal mine in Essen-Kupferdreh . The mine has a history of over 70 years.
Mining history
In 1800 the concession for the mining of hard coal was granted, but initially there was no operation. On January 2, 1844, a length field was awarded . In the second half of 1856, the mine field was solved by Prince Friedrich Stolln . The mine went into operation in the same year. The first coal was mined in 1858. The union was re-established the following year . In 1861 mining was still carried out, some time later the mine was shut down. In 1865 the mine was put back into operation. In 1869 the mine was shut down again and reopened the following year. In 1872 the Mühlenbank colliery consolidated with other collieries to form the Prinz Friedrich colliery .
Promotion and workforce
The first production figures come from the year 1858, 10,860 bushels of hard coal were produced. The first workforce dates from 1861, two miners were employed in the mine. The production in 2005 was bushels of hard coal. In 1867, 377 tons of hard coal were mined. In 1870, 19 miners extracted 3,485 tons of hard coal. The last figures are from 1872, with 28 miners 5660 tons of hard coal were extracted.
