The mine Prince Frederick was a coal - mine in what is now the Essen District Kupferdreh .
history
In 1908 the Essener Steinkohlenbergwerke AG acquired the mining Altendorf Tiefbau colliery . This purchase also included part of the minefield property of the closed Steingatt colliery , which had mined in the area of Kupferdreh and Byfang until 1903. After its closure, the southern part of the field, Prinz Friedrich, was acquired directly by the Altendorf union . This partly had leasing companies carry out funding on a smaller scale.
In 1920, in this part of the field at the Gleisdreieck east of the Baldeneysee, a new extraction shaft called the Prinz Friedrich shaft was sunk , which went into operation in 1923. The conveyor system was equipped with a German strut frame. In the long term, it was planned to dig a second shaft . However, the tense sales situation and the development of the colliery showed that these expansion measures did not make economic sense. In 1928 production was cut back sharply, and in 1930 it was stopped entirely; the colliery only served as a so-called syndicate shaft to secure the number of shares in the Rheinisch-Westfälischen coal syndicate .
After completion of the new production well Carl Funke 2 the connection was mine Prince Frederick of Carl Funke decided and the promotion through a link to Carl Funke moved. From 1931 was Schacht Prince Frederick as a man-riding shaft Carl Funke 3 out.
Current condition
After the Carl Funke colliery was closed in 1973, the shaft was backfilled and the conveyor system demolished. Part of the former company building has been preserved. The rest of the site is used commercially.
