The Neugottsegnedich colliery is a former hard coal mine in the Vormholz district of Witten . The mine emerged from the United Neugottsegnedich colliery. Spateisenstein was also extracted from the mine in the second half of the 19th century .

Mining history

Beginnings as a United Neugottsegnedich

On November 20 of the year 1835 which were square boxes Neupottkämperbänke and Neugottsegnedich with the Langenfeld God Bless you under the name United Neugottsegnedich consolidated . A tunnel was set up east of the Pleßbachtal . In 1840 the Flora and Lazarus pits were in operation. In 1842 the mine now had two tunnels. In 1845 the Johann and Paul shafts were in operation. The mine was shut down on May 30, 1845. After 1847 the mine was again in operation for several years. At the end of 1861 the mine was taken out of service.

The further operation

In 1871 the mine was opened under the new name Zeche Neugottsegnedich. The tunnel east of the Pleßbachtal was initially continued to operate. On April 8, 1876, the mine was closed again. On April 15, 1884, the mine was put back into operation. A new tunnel was started . This new tunnel was located east of today's Durchholz-Herbeder Kirchweg. In 1889 was Schacht August promotion . On November 15, 1892, the Neugottsegnedich colliery was stopped again. The mine was reopened in 1894 and closed again in 1896. On February 5, 1921, the mine was put back into operation. A new tunnel was excavated in the Pleßbachtal. This tunnel was located east of the Blankenstein-Bossel small railway line. In 1922 the Neugottsegnedich Geviertfeld was added to the United Bommerbänker Tiefbau colliery. In 1923 the Neugottsegnedich colliery had a tonnage- long shaft and three tunnels. In October of the same year the Neugottsegnedich colliery was shut down. The colliery was reopened as a small mine in 1951 and then finally shut down in 1957.

Promotion and workforce

The first production figures are from 1835, when 1185 tons of hard coal were produced. In 1840 8122 ½ Prussian tons of hard coal were mined. In 1842, 11,321 Prussian tons of hard coal were mined. The first workforce dates from 1845, when nine miners were employed at the colliery. The production in this year was 1391 tons of hard coal. In 1872, three miners extracted 77 tons of hard coal. In 1887, nine miners extracted 665 tons of hard coal. In 1890, the production was 3840 tons of hard coal, the workforce was 18 miners. In 1894, 3,680 tons of hard coal were mined. In 1922, 4,789 tonnes of hard coal were mined, the workforce in that year was 38 employees. These were also the last production and workforce figures for the mine.
