The Niederhofen IV colliery is a former hard coal mine in Dortmund .
The mine was located in the southern district of Dortmund Wellinghofen in the district Hörde and belonged to the mine owned by the family of Romberg . The Niederhofen colliery was located on the northern slope of the Ardey Mountains in the Niederhofer Forest not far from Gut Niederhofen . The coal seams occur here near the surface to day , so that a mining in tunnel construction without costly technology was an early possible.
In 1898 a northern part of the mine field was taken over by the neighboring Crone colliery , which in turn was auctioned in 1908 to the Glückaufsegen colliery union .
In 1917 the colliery was merged with the Nikolaus colliery in the Admiral union .
