The Saturn colliery is a former hard coal mine in Bommern . The colliery was east of the Muttental.

Mining history

The mine was already in operation in 1788. On July 19, 1839, a small length field was awarded east of the Muttental . On May 20, 1862 , the Saturn colliery consolidated with further mines below the bottom of the St. Johannes Erbstollen to form the United Bommerbänker Tiefbau colliery . On September 28, 1871, the Glücksstern colliery submitted a joint operating plan for the Saturn, Jupiter and Glücksstern collieries to the mining authority . The operating plan served the joint operation of the three previously independent mines under the management of the Glücksstern colliery. In 1879, the mine field of mine Saturn was from the field Glücksstern solved . The Saturn colliery was in operation until 1881. This year, twelve miners extracted 143 tons of hard coal . In 1881 the Saturn colliery was closed.
