The Schinkenbank colliery in the Fischlaken Honschaft in Essen-Werden -Fischlaken is a former hard coal mine . The mine was located in the area of today's Scheppener Weg and the Pörtingsiepen street.
Mining history
The mine was already in operation before 1800. However, the mine field had not been mortgaged. In 1802, eight were day Ringel coal promoted. Alignment work took place in 1804 . The following year, the area around shaft 5 was dismantled . In 1807 and 1808 the mine was out of order. After 1808 the mine was not mentioned in the documents for several years. The Hope Shaft was sunk in 1816 and mining began again in December of the same year. From July 1819 the mine was again out of order. In 1820 the Zeche Schinkenbank in the Honschaft Fischlaken consolidated with the Zeche Kucks to form the Zeche Vereinigte Kucks & Schinkenbank .
