The United Kucks & Schinkenbank colliery in Essen-Werden -Hamm is a former hard coal mine . The mine was also known under the names Zeche Vereinigte Kux & Schinkenbank and Zeche Vereinigte Kucks . Little is reported about the mine.

Mining history

In 1820 the two independent collieries, Kucks and Schinkenbank, consolidated in the Fischlaken district to form the United Kucks & Schinkenbank colliery. In the same year the Christina shaft was mined . Between 1824 and 1827, the Magdalena shaft was mined. In 1828 the mine produced a good yield . In 1830, the Magdalena shaft continued to be mined. In 1841 the United Kucks & Ham Bank was shut down.

Promotion and workforce

The first known production and workforce figures come from the year 1830, when eleven miners produced 55,022 bushels of hard coal . In 1834, 25 miners produced 49,322 bushels of hard coal. In 1836 8,149 Prussian tons of hard coal were mined. The last known figures for the mine are from 1840, in that year 4,192 tons of Prussian hard coal were extracted.
