coat of arms

The colors white and red represented the state colors of Brandenburg. The crab is the heraldic animal of the city of Cottbus . As a representative of the birds, the stork symbolized the main task area of Army Aviation Support Squadron 1, which referred to connection and reconnaissance flights with the Bo 105 VBH helicopter.

history

The origins of Army Aviation Support Squadron 1 resulted from the dissolution of Combat Helicopter Squadron 3 of the NVA on April 1, 1991 and the formation of Army Aviation Squadrons East and 70 and Army Airfield Command 701 at the Cottbus location . The squadrons were the Corps / TerrKdo Ost (Geltow) and the WBK VII / 13. PzGrenDiv (Leipzig) subordinated.

On October 1, 1993, the Heeresfliegerstaffeln Ost and 70 merged and were renamed to Heeresfliegerverbindungs- und Aufklärungsstaffel 400. This was initially subordinated to HFlgBrig 3 (Mendig) and from 1997 to the newly established LuftMechBrig 1 (Fritzlar). In 2002, the regrouping of the Army Aviation Connection and Reconnaissance Squadron 400 was established.

This was completed on January 1, 2003, by simultaneously changing location from Cottbus to Holzdorf and renaming it to Army Aviation Support Squadron 1.

Flight operations ceased on January 13, 2013 after 51,189 accident-free flight hours. On April 3, 2013, the last official squadron captain Lieutenant Colonel Lutz Wagner was released from his command on March 26, 2013, and his deputy Major Sascha Ferdinand was introduced to the management of Army Aviation Support Squadron 1.

The dissolution of Army Aviation Support Squadron 1 was planned in the realignment of the Bundeswehr and was completed on December 31, 2013.
