Gisbert von Bodelschwingh-Plettenberg

Gisbert Wilhelm Freiherr von Bodelschwingh-Plettenberg (born June 13, 1790 , † May 12, 1866 ) was a Westphalian landowner and politician.

Gisbert von Bodelschwingh-Plettenberg comes from the Westphalian noble family von Plettenberg . He was the son of the Grand Commander Karl Wilhelm Georg von Plettenberg (1765-1850), who by marrying the heiress Gisbertine Anna Luisa Freiin von Bodelschwingh on Bodelschwingh in 1788 with Prussian approval, united the name and coat of arms of the Plettenberg with that of the von Bodelschwingh and thus the line founded by the barons of Bodelschwingh-Plettenberg . After his father moved from Bodelschwingh to Drais in 1834, he and his family moved from Geretzhoven to Bodelschwingh in 1834.

He was Fideikommissowner on Bodelschwingh, master of the goods Rodenberg , Schörlingen, Bamenohl , Borghausen and Schwarzenberg in Westphalia, Geretzhoven , Katzen and Katzcherhof in Jülichschen, Teschendorf in Western Pomerania, Drais in Nassau and Loowaard in Holland.

Gisbert was the Royal Prussian Chamberlain, Landkomtur of the Teutonic Order and member of the Prussian Manor House on presentation of the old and fortified property of the county of Mark. Plettenberg belonged to the manor house from 1854 until his death in 1866. From 1826 to 1861 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia and there from 1851 to 1856 deputy parliamentary marshal.

Marriage and offspring

In 1818 he married Wilhelmine Freiin von Plettenberg- Stockum (1795–1845). The following children were born from the marriage:

  • Carl Gisbert Wilhelm von Bodelschwingh-Plettenberg (* 1821 in Geretzhofen, † 1907 in Bodelschwingh), Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John; he inherited the Bodelschwingh, Schwarzenberg estate and bought the Drais estate from his younger brother Gisbert; he married Eugenie von Quadt-Wyckrath-Hüchtenbruck ; they had a daughter named Wilhelmine , who later married Dodo Alexander zu Innhausen and Knyphausen .
  • Gisbert "Gieb" (* 1823; † 1866 in Bodelschwingh), inherited the Teschendorf (today: Cieszyno) and Drais estates, and in 1854 married Adelheid von Veltheim from the Veltheimsburg family . She died with her three children August , Gisbert and Minette in January / February 1860 of scarlet fever in Teschendorf.
  • Louise (* 1825; † 1831)
  • Adolf Eugen Ludwig (* 1826; † 1902), inherited the estates Bamenohl and Borghausen and married Bertha von Plettenberg-Heeren in 1856 , owner of the estates Hilbeck, Heeren, Werve and Hahnen; with her he had a son, Friedrich Gisbert Adolf von Plettenberg .

  • Caroline (* 1831; † 1858), married Bernhard Maximilian von Friesen in 1854 . Her son Max took over the management of the Teschendorf estate from his uncle Carl when he came of age in 1877.

  • Auguste Elise (* 1835; † 1858), married Kurd von Bolschwingh auf Furzen (today Pelči) near Kuldīga in Courland in 1862
