The castle Geretzhoven is a former moated castle in the village of Rheidt-Hüchelhoven in North Rhine-Westphalia Rhein-Erft . The plant consists of several buildings: The two- to three-storey mansion of brick is located at the northeast corner of the system with pre- moat on the north side. On this side there are two round corner towers with a curved hood . In addition, an archway with heraldic stones, a barn on the eastern edge of the property and some moats have been preserved.

history

The core of the knight's seat dates back to the 16th century. The name was first mentioned in a document in 1328 in connection with Reinhard von Geretzhoven. The castle originally belonged to the Electoral Cologne St. Ursula pen . In 1688 it came to the von Bodelschwingh - Plettenberg family through marriage , who restored the building around 1920 .

The manor house and farm building have grown together over time to form a closed four-wing complex. The ensemble is now a listed building and can be visited on certain dates after prior registration. In the restored “manure” you can celebrate parties in a historical setting.
