The United Girendelle colliery is a former hard coal mine in Essen-Stadtwald- Baldeney. The colliery was also known as Colliery United Girondelle or Colliery United Gyrendelle and was created before 1780 when the colliery Gierendelle was divided into four independent mines.
history
The beginnings
In 1780 the loan was granted to Landrichter Müller & Consorten. The mortgage was given on a seam with a thickness of 1 1/2 feet . In 1792 the granting of rights of entitlement took place . At the end of the 18th century, the mine had a legal dispute with the Duvenkampsbank colliery due to unclear rights of ownership. The mine was in operation from 1802 and was run in the tunnel . At that time, the mine operator was Heinrich Wiese. The tunnel was located on Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße.
The other years
In 1807, daily drive 3 was in production, and in 1809, daily drive 4 was added. In 1811 day drives 2 and 4 were in production. The first shutdown of the mine took place on March 30, 1820. About eight years later, on January 2, 1828, it was put back into operation. In the same year the mine became one of the founding members of the Essen-Werdenschen coal trading company with 30 shares . From the end of October 1844, the mine was set in time limits . From 1865 the mine was taken out of service. The rightful owner was later added to the Essener Steinkohlenbergwerke AG (Vereinigte Pörtingsiepen).
Promotion and workforce
The first production figures for the mine date back to 1802, 24 ringlets of hard coal were mined per day. In 1830, 35 miners mined 133,347 bushels of hard coal. In 1834 54 miners were employed at the mine. In 1836 27,087 1/4 Prussian tons were mined. In 1838 production increased to around 8,000 tons. The last known production figures of the mine come from the year 1842, 23,455 Prussian tons of hard coal were extracted. The last known workforce at the mine dates back to 1858, when 16 miners were employed in the mine.
Others
In 1930, during construction work on Lake Baldeney , west of the Carl Funke colliery, two tunnels of the United Girendelle colliery were uncovered. The tunnels were in a well-preserved condition.
