Zechenfest
The Zechenfest is a folk festival that takes place every year on the last weekend in September at the Zeche Zollverein in Essen .
The festival is organized by the advertising associations from the Essen districts of Katernberg , Schonnebeck and Stoppenberg as well as the Zollverein Foundation .

The Zechenfest was first held in 1989. Its origin lies in the idea of making the colliery a little more attractive. But even under public pressure, the festival was repeated a year later and a great success. There are increasing numbers of visitors. Live bands provide entertainment.
