Zed was one of four New Zealand pop-rock - band , which was founded in the 1998th
history
Zed was originally founded under the name Supra by three students from Christchurch's Cashmere High School (Nathan King, Ben Campbell and Adrian Palmer). A band has always been her biggest dream. Together with manager Ray Colombus , they were finally able to fulfill this.
In 2000, another member finally joined the trio, the second guitarist Andrew Lynch. Shortly after the formation, King felt there was something missing in the band, so they hired Lynch.
The first album Silencer was recorded together with producer David Nicholas . The music and vocals were recorded at Revolver Studios in Auckland, while the mixing and "finishing touches" of the CD took place at Mangrove Studios near Sydney , Australia . The recordings lasted seven weeks.
Silencer became the hit album of the year 2000 in New Zealand and immediately made it to number 1 on the local singles charts. It was also awarded triple platinum and produced six hit singles. Renegade Fighter was also number 1 in the New Zealand annual charts for 2000.
In Germany, the band was only able to reach number 87 in the charts with the single Hard to Find Her .
Since 2005, Zed have been on a "long break". All members are looking at new music projects:
- Nathan King started a solo career and now lives in London.
- Ben Campbell and Adrian Palmer formed a new band, Atlas . Palmer left this band, however.
- Andy Lynch worked as a live musician in Auckland, but joined Atlas after Palmer left the band.
