Zeeman is a cheap textile chain with around 1200 branches in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and Luxembourg and around 70 million customers per year.
history
The first shop was opened in March 1967 by Jan Zeeman (1942–2020) in Alphen aan den Rijn . At first it was a kind of supermarket for clothes . A second branch was soon opened thanks to good sales figures. The distribution center is still in Alphen aan den Rijn in the Netherlands.
In 1999 Jan Zeeman retired from day-to-day business and handed it over to ex-Kijkshop director Paul Schouwenaar. Schouwenaar left the company in September 2006 and was replaced by Bart Karis in January 2007. Zeeman is still the owner of the business. On June 2, 2020, the founder and owner Jan Zeeman dies at the age of 78. He was one of the 25 richest people in the Netherlands.
Appearance
The logo, in blue-white-yellow, depicts a sailor ( Zeeman in Dutch ). The basic range consists predominantly of textiles and clothing in the lowest price category as well as a changing range of non-textiles. Most of the clothes, which come from the Far East, lie loosely and openly in metal baskets like in a market.
