The Zeisingstek is a knot with which a thin line is tied to a thick rope.
application
In terms of its use, the Zeisingstek is related to the single and double sheetstek and is also suitable for large differences in strength between the two lines. It is safer than the Schotstek and can be easily removed again. However, it requires a little more attention when plugging than the Schotstek.
The Zeisingstek is suitable for connecting light throwing lines with cables that are to be transferred from the ship to shore.
Knot
A bay is made with the end of the thick rope . With the thin line you drive into the bay and make a round trip around the "tip" of the bay, i.e. the end of the bay. Now you wind several round trips with the thin line towards the end of the bay. These round trips enclose the bay of the thick rope and the fixed end of the thin line. Finally, you lift the round turn you made at the beginning and put it over the loose part of the stronger line so that it secures the other round turns. Finally you can connect the two ends of the thin line with a bowline .
Alternatives
For ropes that are not so different in thickness, a double sheet stake is also suitable .
Modifications
- If only two turns are made, there is a similarity to the double sheet stake .
- If only one turn is made, there is a similarity to a simple Schotstek .
- The Albright knot is used by anglers .
