The Journal of Business Economics (JBE) is a scientific journal in business administration , which has had this name since January 2013 and has been published in English since then. It was previously called the Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft (ZfB) and published mostly German-language articles. Submissions for the journal are subject to a double-blind review process .

History and content

It was founded by Fritz Schmidt in 1924. After that, Wilhelm Kalveram took over the function of editor in 1950 ; between 1951 and 1963 she had no editor. Erich Gutenberg took over the function of sole editor between 1964 and 1978. Horst Albach followed him in 1979 . The task of the journal was and is to stimulate and disseminate research in the field of business administration by publishing articles on business management topics. She emphasizes the unity of the discipline and wants to counteract one-sided specializations. It serves the exchange of ideas between science and business practice.

The editors themselves also published a large number of articles here. Gutenberg himself was often an author, as in 1938 with the topic "The entrepreneur in income and trade tax law". It was published as a business management magazine by Springer Gabler Verlag in Wiesbaden with regular twelve issues a year. The change in the language of publication and the renaming in January 2013 are intended to contribute to the internationalization of the journal and thus make its articles accessible to a larger specialist audience.
