The journal for psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy is a German medical journal. It is the organ of the German Society for Psychosomatic Medicine and Medical Psychotherapy (DGPM).

The magazine is currently published by Manfred E. Beutel, Stephan Doering , Harald Gündel, Peter Henningsen, Stephan Herpertz, Christoph Herrmann-Lingen, Gereon Heuft, Peter Joraschky , Johannes Kruse, Gerhard Schüßler , Wolfgang Tress and Michael Zaudig .

It sees itself as a discussion forum for the interdisciplinary exchange of experiences with the aim of promoting scientific insights into the interaction of psychological and somatic factors in disease processes, deepening psychoanalytic knowledge and contributing to the development of new therapeutic possibilities.

In 2012, the impact factor of the journal for psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy was 0.981. In the statistics of the Social Science Citation Index , the journal was ranked 1 out of 15 journals in the category "psychoanalytic psychology", ranked 60 out of 126 journals in the category "multidisciplinary psychology" and ranked 77 out of 114 in the field " clinical psychology ".

In 2013, however, the journal was removed from the impact factor rating. “Self-citations and cross-citations are… possibly 'punished'” (Brähler & Strauss, 2014).
