Peter Joraschky (born January 25, 1947 in Heidenheim ) is a German doctor , psychoanalyst and psychotherapy researcher , was professor of psychotherapy and psychosomatics at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden and is head of the Academy for General Psychotherapy private GmbH (Dresden).

Life

After graduating from the Humboldt-Gymnasium Ulm in 1966 studied Joraschky 1966-1972 Medicine and from 1969 to 1971 and psychology in Munich. He received his license to practice medicine in 1973. From 1973 to 1974 he was an assistant doctor in the department for psychosomatic medicine at the Center for Internal Medicine in Ulm (head: Thure von Uexküll ). In 1974 Joraschky began his psychoanalytic training in Ulm (with Helmut Thomä ). In 1980 he completed his specialist training and was recognized as a neurologist by the Bavarian State Medical Association (1980: additional qualification in psychotherapy, 1984: additional qualification in psychoanalysis ). In 1980 he became senior physician at the Günzburg district hospital, where he headed the psychotherapy department.

He received his doctorate in 1982 as Dr. med. (Title of the work: The body scheme and the body self as regulatory principles of the environment-organism relationship ). In 1984 Joraschky went to the Psychiatric University Clinic Erlangen as a senior physician (head: Eberhard Lungershausen ) and headed the psychosomatic department there. In 1988 Joraschky completed his habilitation (title of the thesis: Borderline disorders in the family - comparison between families with a schizophrenic and families with a neurotic adolescent ), received the Venia Legendi for psychiatry and was appointed private lecturer . The license to teach was expanded in 1989 to include the fields of psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy. In 1991 Joraschky was appointed university professor at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (head of the independent department for psychosomatics and psychotherapy). From January 1, 1998, he was Professor of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics and Director of the Clinic for Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital in Dresden. In 2012 he retired.

From 2012 he headed the Academy for General Psychotherapy private GmbH (aap) in Dresden, a state-recognized institute for training in psychological psychotherapy.

Services

Joraschky's main research areas include a. in the areas of family diagnostics and family therapy , couples therapy , inpatient psychotherapy for anxiety disorders , diagnosis and therapy of somatoform pain disorders , the influence of traumatization on psychosomatic illnesses, body image research , affective disorders , counseling and liaison psychosomatics .

Joraschky is a member of the Saxon Institute for Psychoanalysis. From 2003 to 2006 he was President of the German College for Psychosomatic Medicine (DKPM).
