Zeng Qinghong ( Chinese  曾慶紅  /  曾庆红 , Pinyin Zēng Qìnghóng) (* 1939 ) is a Chinese politician.

From 2003 to 2008 he was Vice President of the People's Republic of China and thus Deputy of Hu Jintao .

Zeng Qinghong, the son of an early revolutionary general and one of the participants in the Long March , is counted among the descendants of influential party veterans. His political career is closely linked to Jiang Zemins , with whom he was in close contact during his time in Shanghai .

biography

Zeng Qinghong was born in 1939 in Ji'an County, Jiangxi Province . At the age of 21, he joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1960 . After completing his studies at the Beijing Industrial Institute in the programmed control department as an engineer in 1963, he worked as a technician in the People's Liberation Army and a technician under the 7th Ministry of Engineering. In 1969 he did physical labor in Guangzhou and Hunan Province before returning to being a technician under the 7th Department of Engineering in 1970. Three years later he was a technician in the production department and later in the science and technology department of the Beijing National Defense Industry Bureau .

Zeng Qinghong became secretary in the main office of the State Planning Commission in 1979, deputy department head in the main office of the State Energy Commission in 1981, and deputy party secretary of Shanghai in 1986. In 1997 he was appointed director of the Central Committee Headquarters. He then served as director of the Central Committee Organizational Department from 1999–2002 before becoming Vice President of the People's Republic of China.
