Shibayama Zenkei
Shibayama Zenkei ( Japanese 柴山 全 慶 ; * November 30, 1894 ; † August 29, 1974 ) was a Zen master of the Rinzai school and abbot of the Nanzen-ji monastery in Kyoto .
Life
Shibayama became famous for his annotated edition of Wumenguan . In the 1960s he made several lecture tours to the United States, where he conveyed his knowledge as a Zen master to a Western audience.
One of his students is Keidō Fukushima , abbot of Tōfuku-ji .
