The men's singles of the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1978 was a tennis competition in Medellín .

Competition mode

The 29 participants were initially divided into eight preliminary round groups of three or four players each, in which everyone played against everyone. The first two in the group advanced to the round of 16, from which the knockout system was used.
