The Central Bank of Cyprus (Greek: Κεντρική Τράπεζα της Κύπρου, ΚΤΚ; Turkish: Kıbrıs Merkez Bankası, ΚΜΒ) is the central bank of the Republic of Cyprus , based in Nicosia .
The central bank was founded in 1963. It has been part of the European System of Central Banks since 2008 . Until the introduction of the euro , it had a monopoly on issuing banknotes in the Cyprus pound currency .
In March 2013 there was a crisis in Cyprus .
On March 10, 2014, the central bank governor Panikos Demetriades resigned; his successor was Chrystalla Georghadji .
