Central book trade school

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Central Book Trade School (ZBS) was a state-recognized private trade school for the education and training of booksellers in Olten (Switzerland). It was founded in 1990 by Felix Werner , who managed it until 2000. It was financially supported by 50 mostly large Swiss book trade companies. The ZBS was the only book trade school in Switzerland to operate its own textbook shop. The school was the only own educational institution of the Swiss book trade. It closed in January 2003 due to financial problems.

One of the deciding factors in choosing the location for Olten was that Olten is a “book town”. The Swiss Book Center , the central distribution center for Swiss booksellers , is located in Hägendorf near Olten . In Olten itself, the Book Fair Olten, the second largest book fair in Switzerland behind BuchBasel, takes place, and the Olten group of writers was founded there.

The basic vocational training of Swiss booksellers is now carried out exclusively by the Swiss Booksellers and Publishers Association (SBVV) in the business and management school of the Bern Commercial Association (Dept. of Bern's vocational school for the book trade) and in the KV Winterthur business school. Since 2010 there has also been job-specific advanced training with a federal certificate .
