Central Electoral Commission (Albania)

The Central Election Commission ( Albanian  Komisioni Qendror i Zgjedhjeve , KQZ for short ; English Central Elections Commission , CEC ) is a state collegiate body in Albania that prepares, supervises and conducts elections and referendums and publishes their results.

The Commission, which began its work in 2000, consists of seven members who are elected by Parliament every four years . After the new draft of the Albanian Constitution was approved by the people in 1998, the law stipulated that the Central Electoral Commission would consist of seven members, two of which were appointed by the President , three by the High Judicial Council and two by the Parliament. In 2008 this regulation was changed in favor of Parliament, which now elects all seven members. Four of them are appointed by the government and three by the opposition.
