Center for Southeast European Studies

The Center for Southeast European Studies is an interdisciplinary institution at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz . The center was established in 2008 to strengthen the university-wide focus on Southeast Europe .

history

At the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz there have been close relationships with Southeastern Europe and research on the region for decades. Research is carried out on Southeast Europe in particular in Slavic studies and history . In addition, after 1990 law has supported the reform of the legal systems of Southeast Europe. In 2000, Southeast Europe was designated as a university focus and in 2008 the Competence Center Southeast Europe (since 2012 Center for Southeast European Studies) was founded.

courses

The center is involved in the joint degree master’s program in Southeast European Studies. The course is carried out in cooperation with the Universities of Zagreb , Belgrade and Skopje . The center is also involved in the Joint PhD Program in Diversity Management and Governance. Partners are the University of Bologna , the University of Primorska and the New Bulgarian University .

The editorial staff of the journal Nationalities Papers is located in the center. In addition, the center publishes a working paper series and the book series Southeast European Studies.
