Kreszenzia Hölzl

Kreszenzia Hölzl , also Zenzi , Kreszentia or Creszentia , (born November 28, 1893 , † August 25, 1958 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

Kreszentia Hölzl worked in the tobacco shop in Gloggnitz , which her husband had received as a war invalid . In the time of Austrofascism , the tobacco shop was a meeting place for the socialists.

From 1945 to 1949 Hölzl was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament . In 1948 she became mayor of Gloggnitz and was the first woman to hold this office in an Austrian municipality . As early as June 1946, the communist newspaper Österreichische Volksstimme reported that “the farmer's daughter Maria Rothschäd [e] l was elected mayor” in the municipality of Oberhaag and was Austria's first female mayor. From 1947 Ottilie Ninaus was mayor of the Sierling community, which was dissolved in 1968 . Hölzl held this office for 10 years until 1958 and during her term of office he campaigned for the construction of the Gloggnitz Alpine Bath, set up a mother advice center and pushed for the renewal of the water supply.
