Master of ceremonies (carnival)
The master of ceremonies in the carnival in the Rhineland in Germany is the constant companion of a carnival prince . His duties include organizational, logistical and representative tasks. In the Rhenish Carnival, the prince and master of ceremonies together form a form of government in contrast to forms of government such as the sole ruling prince, the prince couple or the Cologne triumvirate . A common abbreviation is “ceremony” with an emphasis on the first syllable.
In the Eschweiler Carnival , the master of ceremonies always comes from the same club as the prince and wears his uniform colors including the Eschweiler coat of arms . In contrast to the prince's fool's bunk , the master of ceremonies holds a man-high staff with an attachment in his hand.
Earlier, the bed was the attribute of acting as master of ceremonies flatbed master . Such a designated office is occasionally still be seen in carnival or Fastnacht common profit mutual.
