Zeynep Kocabiyik Hansen (* 1973 in Salihli ) is a Turkish - American economics professor at Boise State University's business college .

Life

education

Hansen did her primary school education in Salihli and attended the elite high school Bornova Anadolu Lisesi , which specializes in German. She received her BA in Economics and Mathematics from Boise State University in 1997 and her MA in Economics from the University of Arizona in 1999 . In 2002 she did her Ph.D. of economics . Her dissertation dealt with contractual arrangements under technological uncertainties and was an analysis of pharmaceutical and biotechnological collaboration.

Career

From 1997 to 2002 she was an assistant professor at the University of Arizona and from 2002 to 2007 assistant professor of organization and strategy at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. From 2007 to 2010 she was an Associate Professor and since 2010 Professor of Economics at Boise State University . Since 2004 she has also been a faculty research member of the Development of the American Economy Group of the National Bureau of Economic Research . Hansen has written articles for journals such as the Journal of Political Economy , Journal of Law and Economics, and Journal of Economic History . Her research focuses primarily on agricultural policies in the development of the American economy. Hansen's other research fields are health policy, strategic biotechnological and pharmaceutical alliances and preventive health behavior and the use of the health system by minorities. Hansen conducts research on water infrastructure and historical water use in the western part of the United States. Hansen teaches courses in health economics, history of economic thought, and US economic history. According to her university website, her research focuses on two areas, on the one hand on natural experiments and controversies in American economic history, which are relevant to the present day, and on the other hand on the pharmaceutical industry and health policy.
