Sarah Chepchirchir (born July 27, 1984 in Nandi County ) is a former Kenyan long-distance runner .

Career

Sarah Chepchirchir is the sister-in-law of the Kenyan marathon runner and Olympic champion Jemima Jelagat Sumgong .

In 2009 she won the Seissan - Auch and Auray - Vannes half marathons and was third in the 20 km of Paris . In 2010 she finished third in the Lille Half Marathon , defended her title at Auray - Vannes, came eleventh at the World Half Marathon Championships in Nanning and won the Boulogne-Billancourt Half Marathon .

In 2011, Chepchirchir won the Humarathon with a personal half marathon best time of 1:08:07 h, the Grand Nancy Marathon and the 20 km from Paris. In 2012 she finished third in the Paris Half Marathon . In February 2017 she won the Tokyo Marathon and set a new course record with her winning time of 2:19:47 h.

In February 2019, the then 34-year-old was banned for violating the anti-doping rules of the IAAF.
