Zhang Wei (archaeologist)
Zhang Wei ( Chinese 张 威 ) is a Chinese archaeologist . In 1982 he graduated from the Archaeological Faculty of Peking University . He is the first director of 1987 founded the Center for Underwater Archeology of the Chinese National Museum (Zhongguo guojia Bowuguan Xiashui kaogu yanjiu zhongxin中国国家博物馆水下考古学研究中心Underwater Archeology Research Office of the National Museum of Chinese History).
Zhang is the chief archaeologist responsible for salvaging the old Chinese shipwreck " Nanhai No. 1 " from the South China Sea (Chinese: Nan Hai ). The Xisha Islands (Paracel Islands) are also a focus of his interests.
