Zhang Yesui ( Chinese  张 业 遂 , Pinyin Zhāng Yèsuì , W.-G. Chang Yehsui ; born October 1, 1953 in Hubei Province , People's Republic of China ) is a diplomat of the People's Republic of China, member of the Communist Party of China and Deputy Foreign Minister of China .

Life

Zhang Yesui studied at the Beijing Foreign Language University and the London School of Economics and Political Science . He entered the foreign service of the People's Republic of China and was employed at the embassy in London . He then worked in the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing. From 1996 to 2000 he was Master of Ceremonies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing. From 2000 to 2003 he headed the Personnel and Protocol department. From 2003 to 2008 he was Deputy Foreign Minister and dedicated himself to the topics of research policy, Africa, Europe, North America, Oceania, arms control, international laws and agreements.

From October 10, 2008 to March 3, 2010 he sat at the permanent seat of the People's Republic of China in the UN Security Council. During this term of office, on March 4, 2009, a three-member judicial panel of the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Umar al-Bashir . From 2010 to 2013, Zhang Yesui was ambassador to Washington, DC. Since 2013, he has been China's deputy foreign minister.

Zhang Yesui is married to Chen Naiqing; You have a daughter. From 1988 to 1992, Zhang and his wife were Counselors at UN headquarters . Both were delegates to the six-party talks . Since 2012 he has been a replacement member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China .
