Zheng Wenxiao ( Chinese  郑 闻 晓 , Pinyin Zhèng Wénxiǎo , * 1981 ) is a Chinese violist .

Zheng was awarded first prize in the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy competition in January 2008 . The subjects advertised in 2008 were piano quartet and viola, in which Zheng excelled from among 13 registered participants.

Zheng Wenxiao started playing the violin at the age of four . At the age of ten he was accepted into the Shanghai Conservatory's early childhood education program. At the age of 14 he switched to the viola and graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory with a Bachelor of Arts with distinction. He continued his training with Gérard Caussé at the Reina Sofía School of Music Madrid and at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Diemut Poppen. He is currently studying in Hariolf Schlichtig's master class at the Munich University of Music and Theater. He attended master classes with Yuri Bashmet and Paul Newbauer.,

Zheng is first prize winner at the National China Viola Competition, the “ciudad de Xativa” competition (Spain) and won the special prize of the President of the Jury (Yuri Bashmet) at the Lionel Tertis Viola Competition. He was a prizewinner at the Llanes Viola Competition and received the special prize "Best Chamber Musician" at the Yuri Bashmet Viola Competition in Moscow. Zheng Wenxiao can already look back on an extensive concert career, both as a solo violist in the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra and as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals such as the Encuentro de Musica Santander, the Festival for Contemporary Music Shanghai or the Kimito Music Festival in Finland. There he premiered Inno, for viola and piano , a work by the Finnish composer Jouni Kaipainen (1956–2015).
